Strand Theater

The Strand Theatre opened on September 2, 1915 with “The Island of Regeneration”. The theater had seating for more than 1200 patrons. It was demolished in 1990.

This Day In History

1881 On this day in 1881, The Akron Water Works Company began providing water service in Akron. The original supply came from an artesian well that was pumped into a reservoir.
1906 On this day in 1906, the Portage Country Club opened at Portage Path and Twin Oaks Road.
