Hamilton Building

Once standing on the site of today’s First National Bank Tower. The Hamilton Building was home to Akron’s first major bank, the Central Savings and Trust which moved into the building in 1918 and remained there until the building was demolished.

This Day In History

1827 On this day in 1827, the first canal boat on the Ohio and Erie Canal left Akron, traveled through 41 locks and over 3 aqueducts along 37 miles of canal, to arrive at Cleveland on July 4.
1949 On this day in 1949, Donald L. Plusquellic, Akron's longest-serving mayor, was born.
