Was Goodyear big in Akron? Oh yeah. By the early 1900’s this plant had one million square feet of rubber making floor space and covered 41 acres!

1921 On this day in 1921, Television personality Hugh Downs was born in Akron.
1936 On this day in 1936, tirebuilders in Goodyear's Plant 2 shut off their machines and sat down to protest the layoff of seventy men and the planned move from a 6-hour workday to an 8-hour workday.
