City Hospital and Nurses’ Home

The main building of City Hospital was constructed in 1892, with the training school for nurses being added in 1897. The first class of nurses had just two students.

This Day In History

1936 On this day in 1936, a sit-down strike began in the truck tire department at Firestone and quickly spread to all departments at Plant 1. The workers were concerned about wages and a plan to increase the workday from 6 to 8-hours.
