The high school was located on Forge Street, between College and Union Streets, facing Union Park; the school was established in 1857, but the present handsome building was erected in 1885, and cost $135,000.

This Day In History

1965 On this day in 1965, Police Officer Eugene Hooper was shot and killed while searching a vehicle on the Akron Expressway in connection with the armed robbery of a service station.
1997 On this day in 1997, the new Akron Aeros played the Harrisburg Senators in the first game at Canal Park.
