This Day In History

1917 On this day in 1917, Officer Guy Norris was the first of four Akron Policemen to be shot and killed by members of an Italian gang in retaliation for the Akron Police Department's crackdown on their gambling dens and brothels.
1978 On this day in 1978, after 93 years in business, Akron retailer Polsky’s Department Store was closed.
