Akron is the fifth-largest city in Ohio and is the county seat of Summit County. It is located on the western edge of the Glaciated Allegheny Plateau, approximately 39 miles south of Lake Erie Cleveland, Ohio.

This Day In History

1867 On this day in 1867, the first Mass was celebrated at St. Vincent de Paul's new church building.
1929 On this day in 1929, the Polsky's Department Store broke ground on a new four-story, $2.1 million building on Main Street.
1978 On this day in 1978, Firestone recalled over 7 million Firestone 500 tires. This was the largest tire recall to date.
