First Baptist Church

The First Baptist Church continues today, although not in this building. After 75 in its downtown location, the congregation made a decision to resettle in West Akron on Shatto Avenue in 1965.

This Day In History

1930 On this day in 1930, Assistant Secretary of the Navy Ernest Lee Jahncke announced that ZRS-4, which was under construction in the Goodyear-Zeppelin air dock, would be named the U.S.S. Akron.
