This Day in History: 1968-07-16

On this day in 1968, the Wooster Avenue Riots began when Police were called to end disturbances between rival gangs from Akron’s North and South sides. The fighting was centered in the city’s mostly Black populated Wooster Avenue/Edgewood Avenue area but spread over the next few days to include Downtown.
